Yuan Yan Tang (Life Fellow, IEEE) is currently the Director of the Smart City
Research Center, Zhuhai UM Science and Technology Research Institute, Zhuhai, China; the Emeritus Chair
Professor with the University of Macau, Macau, and Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong; and an Adjunct
Professor with Concordia University, Montreal, QC, Canada. He has published more than 600 academic papers
and is the author (or co-author) of over 25 monographs, books, and book chapters. His research interests
include artificial intelligence, wavelets, pattern recognition, and image processing.,Dr. Tang is an IAPR
Fellow and an AAIA Fellow. He is the Founder and the General Chair of the series International Conferences
on Wavelets Analysis and Pattern Recognition (ICWAPRs). He is the Founder and the Chair of Macau Branch of
International Associate of Pattern Recognition (IAPR). He has served as the General Chair, the Program
Chair, and a committee member for many international conferences. He served as the Chairperson for the
18th ICPR, which is the first time that the ICPR was hosted in China. He is the Founder and the
Editor-in-Chief of SCI journal International Journal on Wavelets, Multiresolution, and Information
Processing (IJWMIP).

Maki Habib

Maki Habib obtained his Doctor of Engineering Sciences (DES) in Intelligent
and Autonomous Robotics from the University of Tsukuba in 1990, Japan. He was a selected research
scientist at RIKEN, Japan, and senior researcher at RISO-Laboratories, Japan, and visiting researcher at
EPFL, Switzerland. He was a visiting expert under Asian Development Bank (ADB), Associate Professor at
UTM, Malaysia, and a Senior Manager at MCRIA for engineering projects and industrial consultation,
Malaysia. He was a leading senior research scientist with GMD-Japan, Japan leading Telecooperation
research group. Associate Professor with Monash University (Australia/Malaysia), he developed and led the
Mechatronics Engineering program. He was appointed as a full Professor of Robotics and Mechatronics at
Swinburne University (Australia/Malaysia). Then, he was an invited Professor at KAIST, South Korea,
Residing Professor at Saga University, Japan, and since Sept. 2007 he is a full Professor of Robotics and
Mechatronics at AUC. Habib was a visiting professor (short term) at many Universities around the world,
such as, Nagasaki University-Japan, Hokkoido University-Japan, Orebro University – Sweden, Norwegian
University of Science and Technology – Norway, etc. Habib served as a consultant and Technical advisor to
well-known international companies including Toyota group and ABB.
Habib is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Artificial
Intelligence and Machine Learning, Regional Editor and Associate Editor of 10 International Journals, and
Editorial Board member of another 10 International Journals beside his leadership as a member of
international organizing/program committee of more than 20 International Conference every year.
Habib edited more than 14 books, published more than 26 book chapters and
also more than 275 papers at international journals and international conferences.

Kwan Min LEE
Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
Kwan Min Lee (Ph.D., Stanford) is the inaugural Korea Foundation Professor in
Contemporary Korean Society and New Media and Director of the UX Lab at Nanyang Technological University
(NTU), Singapore. He previously served as a Vice President at Samsung Electronics, leading the UX Group
and Creative Lab (C-Lab), driving new product and service development for the Visual Display division.
Before Samsung, he was a tenured professor at the University of Southern California (USC) for 12 years and
the founding director of the Interaction Science Research Center at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), South
Korea.
Prof. Lee specializes in UX research and design, social and psychological
effects of ICT, and human-machine interaction (HCI/HRI/HAI). An elected Fellow of the International
Communication Association (ICA), he has authored over 100 articles and book chapters widely adopted at
leading universities such as Stanford and MIT. His work has been covered by The Washington Post, BBC News,
and USA Today. He is the recipient of multiple top paper awards, a distinguished young scholar award, and
teaching honors including the USC Mellon Award.
He serves on the editorial boards of more than 10 top-tier journals, as an
advisory board member of MIT Cognet, and formerly as associate editor of Presence and Computers in Human
Behavior. His research has received over US$12 million in funding from institutions including the U.S.
National Science Foundation, Singapore Ministry of Education, Samsung Electronics, and Hyundai Motors. He
holds multiple international patents in smart display interfaces, gesture control, and multimedia
production, and advises startups and established companies in smart home, mobility, Fintech, and UX
strategy.
